Philomathia Chair in Alternative Energy, UC Berkeley , U.S.A.
The Philomathia Chair in Alternative Energy was established at UC Berkeley in 2008 and was awarded to Professor Steven Chu, a Nobel Laureate. Professor Chu became the Secretary of Energy in 2009 and the Philomathia Chair was subsequently taken up by Professor Chris R. Somerville, a renowned plant and microbial biologist.

Scholarship Programs
The Philomathia Foundation is dedicated to fostering education and creating opportunities for truly creative and committed students to follow their passions and see their ideas through to fruition.
Our scholarships will be open to all students who demonstrate creative thinking, the ability to synthesize information from diverse disciplines, and a desire to solve real-world problems. Our focus is on locating and nurturing innovative and promising ideas.
The Hong Kong Foundation funds the Chang-Lin Tien Graduate Fellowship in the Environmental Sciences at the UC Berkeley, U.S.A.
The Canadian Foundation has established the Philomathia Fellowship and the Philomathia Travel Scholarship at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
