On November 1, 2013, the Philomathia Foundation hosted the annual Philomathia Forum on Energy, which provided a platform for discussing topics on contemporary issues about energy and the environment. The two-day forum was held at the University of California – Berkeley, in the LEED Platinum certified David Brower Center.
The 2013 Philomathia Forum focused on two themes concerning water’s critical role in the global environment:
- The future of urban water and the strategies for management and infrastructure
- The impact of changing water supplies on food supplies, security, population, and the natural environment, and the feedbacks between the land surface and the climate system
The first Philomathia Forum occurred in 2009, the Forums since having become an annual event at UC Berkeley.
